Rocks. Microsoft really got it right this time. Speaking from a information design/UI perspective, the new taskbar is freaking awesome. And the start menu's search field takes a page right from my book. The whole OS just appears to be structured far more logically than ever before. This makes the OSX experience seem just downright clunky

But yay for competition saving Windows from itself.

I'd point out though, that it actually IS Vista; both OSes even have the same major version number. Vista isn't even that bad now imo, now that hardware vendors have gotten up to speed on the core changes and SP2 has ironed out all the showstopper bugs that people complained about when it was launched initially.
There's no bloody way I'd ever consider paying for an upgrade, though. $240AU for an upgrade to what is essentially Vista SP3? Bugger that! Especially when you compare it to OS X, where they're offering $30 upgrades from Leopard to Snow Leopard.
While I'm glad Microsoft is making an effort to improve their Windows product line, I'm still hoping against hope that their market share will continue to slip. If it could ever get down to something even as much as 80%, innovation in the OS industry would surge.

It was a great game, but I still miss the freedom to explore from Mario 64. I don't like that there's only one specific star you can get each time you enter a level. I thought half the fun in Mario 64 was the puzzle of figuring out what you're supposed to do, and sometimes winding up getting a different star altogether
